Sacred offering of food offered to deity with love, belief & devotion and consumed by devotees is termed as Prasad or prasadam. The blessings of the deity is said to be residing in this Prasad.
Some of the temples in India are so revered, where it is believed, that the Deity himself resides. While devotees seeks their blessings there are occasions where they cannot personally visit the temples to offer Prasad.
